Vision Setting & Career Guide Seminar

A youth-focused career development project was successfully conducted in Pulilan, Bulacan. This initiative was a collaboration between FPS Media Ph, the Office of the Vice Mayor, and youth sector partners. It benefitted 300 graduating Senior High School students from Bajet-Castillo High School.
The activity, titled Vision Setting & Career Guide Seminar, was organized through the Office of Vice Mayor Imee Cruz. This seminar is part of the youth initiatives supported by her office. It was made possible in partnership with youth empowerment advocate Hans Franco Cruz. He continues to work closely with local stakeholders to prepare young people for life after senior high school.
Insights from Industry Experts
The seminar featured Maris Castro, Section Chief of the ICT Literacy and Competency Development Bureau of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). Castro is also a former award-winning researcher and segment producer for GMA News and Public Affairs.
During her talk, Castro shared practical insights on career readiness. She discussed the differences between a resume and a curriculum vitae. She also highlighted the value of soft skills and hard skills. Furthermore, she emphasized the importance of teamwork and proper planning.
Engaging Activities for Students
Students actively participated in group activities and mock interview exercises. They took on roles as interviewers, interviewees, and observers. This allowed them to experience real-world employment scenarios in a guided setting.
As recognition for their active participation, students received certificates from the Office of the Vice Mayor. The activity aimed to strengthen student confidence. It also sought to better prepare them for the challenges they may face as they transition to college, technical education, or employment.
Future Seminars in Pulilan
Following the successful rollout at Bajet-Castillo High School, similar seminars are scheduled for other public schools in Pulilan. Sta. Peregrina High School is set to host the seminar on February 6. Dampol 2nd National High School will follow on March 6.
FPS Media Ph noted that this initiative builds on its long-standing commitment to youth development. They have conducted similar career and skills-oriented seminars since 2019. The organizers emphasized that sustained collaboration between local government, national agencies, and private partners remains key to empowering the next generation of Pulilan’s workforce.
